Our History

We'd like to say there's some juicy skeletons in our closet, and like many businesses we've had triumphs and trials over the years, but here is our story, laid out in ...well purple; because why not?

1996

Claire opens The Village Pre-School, Upham in the old village hall.

2000

The Village Pre-School moves with the village hall to its current location.

2008

Claire opens Chamberlayne

Pre-School in Eastleigh.

2011

Wickham Pre-School opens. Although each of the settings operate with independent ownership, the owners decide to create a uniform brand across the cooperative, thus Parrywood Childcare is born.

2014

Chamberlayne Pre-School is forced to move after Hampshire County Council renege on their contract.  The Pre-School rebrands as Parrywood Pre-School, Eastleigh.

2016

Parrywood Pre-School, Burridge opens its doors.  It closes down just over a year later due to the lack of children in attendance.

2017

Parrywood Pre-School, Eastleigh is forced to move a second time after further contract issues with their landlords, Eastleigh Borough Council.  The Pre-School settles into life as tenants of All Saints Church.

2020

Stacey formally joins Claire as partner taking over half of the Parrywood Pre-School and Village Pre-School businesses.

2021

Wickham Pre-School is sold, leaving the Parrywood family.

2023

Parrywood Pre-School, Eastleigh closes its doors for the final time as financial pressures became too much to sustain.

2026

The Village Pre-School, Upham celebrates 30 years of business.
