An exciting vacancy has arisen for a Level 3 qualified early years educator to join our friendly, hardworking team at The Village Pre-School, Upham.

The successful candidate will work as a key person and as part of the pre-school team under the direction of the Pre-School Manager to provide safe, high quality education and care for young children whilst maintaining a stimulating and enjoyable environment.

Key responsibilities include:

Assisting with the planning of the curriculum

Supporting other practitioners in all aspects of the pre-school daily routine.

Key person to a small group of children, liaising closely with parents/carers and ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met.

Providing children with opportunities to learn and develop through play, focusing on children’s next steps and individual needs.

Helping to set up and tidy away each day.

Work within the policies and procedures of the pre school including safeguarding, inclusion and Health and Safety guidelines

Following the setting's procedure on confidentiality when dealing with any information regarding the children, their families or other staff.

Attend in-service training courses and meetings as required, provide cover for sickness and absence when possible and undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Pre-School Owners and or Manager

The successful candidate must have:

A childcare and education qualification equivalent to Level 3

Sound knowledge of the Early Years’ Foundation Stage framework

Sound knowledge of children's development and learning

An understanding of play based learning and development

Understanding of the role of key person

Knowledge of safeguarding procedures

Knowledge of Health and Safety

Good oral and written communication

Commitment to Inclusion and Equal Opportunities

Commitment to working in partnership with parents and carers

Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team

Friendly, flexible, positive approach

Ability to use own initiative

Kind and caring nature

It is a condition of this appointment that the successful applicant undergoes an enhanced DBS check

Working hours will be:-

Monday - 7am - 1.30pm

Tuesday - 7am - 2.30pm

Wednesday - 7.30am - 12.30pm

Thursday - 7.30am - 12noon

Friday - 9am - 3pm
